Jeannette Ehlers & Anuradha Vikram in conversation

This conversation was presented by X-TRA on Montez Press Radio at the LA Art Book Fair on April 12, 2019 and was broadcast live. Special thanks to Montez Press Radio for hosting us and for the recording of this conversation.

Jeannette Ehlers and Anuradha Vikram discuss the legacy of colonialism and slavery in Denmark, “I am Queen Mary,” performance, Ehler’s work at 18th Street, representing black female women in sculpture, and much more.

Vikram wrote a review of John Akomfrah’s recent New Museum exhibition in which she cites Ehlers work for Volume 21 Number 3 of X-TRA.

Jeanette Ehlers is a video, photo and performance artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Experimental imagery characterizes her multidisciplinary work, and for years she has created artworks that engage with resistance towards coloniality.

Anuradha Vikram is a curator, educator, and writer based in Los Angeles. Vikram is a member of X-TRA’s Editorial Board.
