In this issue, Travis Diehl and Brica Wilcox present “Realized Sketches in Two Dimensions,” featuring 20 artists’ sketches for time-based work. Featuring sketches by: Meriem Bennani, Jonathan Billet, Jibz Cameron, Poppy Coles, Danielle Dean, Simone Forti, Liz Magic Laser, Adam Linder, João Enxuto & Erica Love, Shana Moulton, Kelly Nipper, Galeria Perdida, Maria Petschnig, Jon Rafman, Lucy Raven, Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs, Rasmus Røhling, Miljohn Ruperto, Tarwuk, and Andrew Norman Wilson
This new collection of sketches takes after X-TRA’s Vol. 4, no. 4, a full issue of sketches, brought together by Karin Lanzoni in 2002. For this issue Karin invited 20 artists, both well known and emerging, to submit a sketch “from their archive, sketchbook, computer files, shoebox, etc.” as well as selecting several from the archives at the Getty Research Institute. Together, the issue featured sketches by: Rheim Alkadhi, Madena Asbell, Robert Bordo, Steven Hull, Marina Kappos, Allan Kaprow, Mike Kelley, Heidi Kidon, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Lisa Lapinski, Thomas Lawson, Daniel Libeskind, Mark Robert Lewis, El Lissitzky, René Magritte, Euan Macdonald, Chris Nichols, Jim Ovelmen, Bonnie Porter, Man Ray, Diego Rivera, Jérôme Saint-Loubert Bié, Carolee Schneemann, Kristina Solomoukha, Brad Spence, Mitchell Syrop, Izumi Tachiki, Lebbeus Woods, and Richard Wright
