X MARKS THE SPOT: Turning to the X-TRA archives

In 1997, Project X, a fluctuating group of artists, published the first issue of X-TRA Contemporary Art Journal. Almost 25 years—and several formats, designs, paper stocks, and editorial boards later, X-TRA remains a collective effort, a space for experimentation, and most importantly, a publisher of fresh and intimate criticism.

As we approach our 25th anniversary, X-TRA is turning to our archive. We will soon kick off an upcoming series of programs inspired by our history. We are looking forward to moving to a public-facing home, which would allow us to make our rich archive more easily accessible to our community. Until then, you will see more efforts to share the contents of our archive. Not only will we be revisiting the ideas and projects found in past issues of X-TRA—but unearthing physical boxes of precious past issues, too.

In celebration of this turn towards the archive, and in anticipation of our move, we will be offering some special promotions featuring our collection of back issues. Visit our store for details.

From everyone at X-TRA and Project X Foundation
