about X-TRA
X-TRA is a quarterly art journal that has been published in Los Angeles since 1997. Our mission is to promote and provoke critical dialog about contemporary visual art. The journal is collectively edited by a board composed of artists and writers. X-TRA publishes diverse critical approaches on a range of topics in expansive features, historical essays, commissioned artists' projects, interviews, and substantive exhibition reviews.
X-TRA is available by subscription and at bookstores & newsstands nationwide, including Barnes and Noble. If X-TRA is not at your local newsstand ask them to carry it. X-TRA is published by Project X Foundation for Art and Criticism, a 501c3 nonprofit corporation. All contributions in support of X-TRA are fully tax-deductible. Upon request, Project X Foundation will make articles appearing in X-TRA accessible to the visually impaired, pursuant to the NEA's regulations implementing Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
